Monica Scott has performed throughout the United States, in almost every European country, Argentina, Canada and South Korea, engaging audiences with her energetic, eloquent playing. After an artist residency at the Banff Centre (Canada) in 1994, Monica performed for four seasons with the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa in Portugal, with whom she also appeared as concerto soloist. Since moving to the Bay Area in 1998, Monica has been actively promoting new music, as a member of the composer/improviser collective sfSoundGroup, and performing with Composers’ Inc., the Composers Alliance, and in numerous chamber music groups; she was the cellist of the award-winning San Francisco-based Del Sol String Quartet from 2001-2005. In 2006 Monica formed the cello-piano duo martha & monica with pianist Hadley McCarroll. They perform regularly throughout the region, presenting ambitious programs of masterworks and challenging contemporary repertoire, as well as numerous commissions. Monica is also a devoted teacher, maintaining a private studio and teaching a variety of classes at the Crowden School.
An avid chamber musician and soloist, 23-year-old pianist and composer Audrey Vardanega has performed widely across the United States, China, and Europe. She is a laureate of the Ravinia Steans’ Music Festival and the 2017 Carnegie Hall Workshops with Jonathan Biss. After receiving her B.A. in Political Science from Columbia University in May 2017, she began her Masters in piano performance in Fall 2017 under the tutelage of Richard Goode at Mannes The New School. Her previous teachers include Victor Rosenbaum, Seymour Lipkin, Jeremy Siepmann, Christopher Elton, and Robert Schwartz.
American violinist Hannah Tarley began playing the violin at age two. She is a winner of Astral Music Management’s 2018 National Auditions, as well as the 3rd Prize winner of the Elmar Oliveira International Violin Competition. Hannah has soloed with orchestras such as the San Francisco Symphony, Detroit Symphony, Academy of Conducting at Aspen Orchestra, Knoxville Symphony, Symphony Parnassus, Narva City Symphony Orchestra, Kiev Soloists, San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, and Lynn Philharmonia Orchestra. As both a soloist and chamber musician, she has debuted in some of the world’s most acclaimed concert halls, including Davies Symphony Hall, The Kimmel Center, Wigmore Hall, Mozarteum, Royal Festival Hall, Gewandaus, and the Library of Congress. Hannah has worked with numerous conductors including Michael Tilson Thomas, Edwin Outwater, Benjamin Schwartz, Guillermo Figueroa, and Speranza Scappucci. She has participated in music festivals including the Perlman Music Program, Music@Menlo, International Musicians Seminar Prussia Cove, Olympic Music Festival, Kronberg Academy Masterclasses, Heifetz International Music Institute, Seiji Ozawa Academy, and Aspen Music Festival and School. At age twelve, Hannah was appointed the youngest concertmaster in the history of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, leading the orchestra on two European Tours.
